New unmanaged switches ensure reliable operation  in case of power failure

Nuremberg, Germany. Siemens has extended its industrial communication portfolio to include new Scalance XB-100 unmanaged Industrial Ethernet switches. The new switches come with a large number of ports and interfaces, and their ATEX and IECEx approvals make them suitable for use hazardous locations in zone 2. They also support 24 Volt DC (Direct Current) and 24 Volt AC (Alternating Current) (50/60 Hertz) output and input currents. This makes them ideally suited for use in building automation applications.
The monitoring, control and optimization facilities offered for building automation, which interconnect using the media-independent communication protocol BACnet/IP, are electrically and optically linked through this switch product line.

The new Scalance XB-100 switches are fitted with a redundant AC/DC 24 Volt power supply which ensures reliable operation even in the event of power failure. The unmanaged switches can be used without any pre-configuration, and are available in five different variants with up to 24 RJ45 ports and two ST/BFOC or SC ports, enabling distances of up to five kilometers to be bridged in multi-mode operation. Diagnostic LEDs enable precise indication or determination of device status and provide rapid, reliable diagnostic analysis. 
Siemens will be showcasing the new Scalance XB-100 switches at the Light + Building, the international trade fair for lighting and building services technology due to be held from March 18 – 23, 2018 in Frankfurt.
